dirt road rider
hush, i know it’s hard to let someone go,
shells on chains lie on a dirt road.
cold rain on a hot metal pole,
the differences we make hold is close.
things only i could understand,
metaphors to our fallen land.
dirt road rider i miss your smile.
i miss the hot summer sun as it shines,
into my eyes, then you wipe away my tears as i cry.
dirt road rider you were so good to me,
so why did i have to leave?
i miss the way we connected,
like a puzzle piece and a broken necklace.
i know most people won’t understand,
the importance of candle wax,
or the color salmon and the shape of a hand.
but it goes back to you.
and that’s the honest truth.
