The fresh smell of pages greeted me
the moment i entered the book store.
The foreign yet known feeling
soothing my messed up brain.
All my racing thoughts came to a halt
by the sight of numerous books.
I walked towards the rack on right
like I'm hypnotized by the new arrivals.
Going through each shelf to select one
enjoying the touch of book covers.
Many new novels and many genres
with each story unknown to me.
Among my new mysterious friends
selecting one trope is a difficult task.
I say Crime thrillers are my favourite
but they just remain in my tbr forever.
Fake dating, the same old story,
Paranormal romances are unrealistic,
Forced Proximity is mostly the same plot,
Marriage of convenience is too predictive,
Enemies to lovers is more of cringe stuff,
The Saint in me deny Forbidden romances
Sunshine girl grumpy boy is so optimistic,
Friends to lovers is cute but crazy,
Dark romance is often antithetical to me,
some Second chance romances are unfair,
Classics are so aesthetic and artistic,
Horror stories never actually horrified me,
Meet-cutes are so impulsive to imagine,
My heart disapproves Damsel in distress,
Billionaire romances are so hyped yet same
Small town romances are magical to trust,
I didn't even avert my eyes to left
where self help books are placed.
I might sound too picky and judging
i can't help but feel the urge to enter
a new world with each book i hold
and travel to all places staying in my room
with every single page i turn
sitting under the lamp light at midnight
telling myself ONE MORE HOUR.

(I don't intend to criticize any trope or book. My TBR is filled with books of tropes that are mentioned above. It's just how i felt on a particular day to read something new and fresh. I'm sorry if someone is offended after reading this.)
