Step 2: Preheat the Oven
Use an oven thermometer
Set oven at 25°F of anger
Step 3: Stir together dry ingredients
3 cups of fear
4 tablespoons of being shut out
¼ teaspoon of self doubt
Step 4: Combine butter and sugar
2 cups of tears
500g of wavering self worth
Step 5: Add eggs one at a time
1 egg loaded with ‘am I enough?’
Another loaded with ‘you have to be tough’
Step 6: Alternate adding the dry and wet ingredients
Alternate between “I’m okay”
And “Please go away”
Step 7: Pour Batter into Pans and Bake
Pour the batter of oppression
Into the pan of depression
Step 8: Check Cake for Doneness
The numbness pouring down like a shower
As it starts to overpower
Step 9: Serve Cake
Give a piece to forgotten memories
A piece to numerous worries
Depression is more than what the eye sees.
