DEVIL IN DISGUISE
A happy smile plastered across her face,
she woke up happy today.
Yesterday is finally a haze,
hopefully it won't be plastered someday.
A prayer she whispers,
to a God who answers,
her life she steers,
happiness merely struck layers.
As the day progresses,
her smile begins to fade
and she falls back to adolescence,
trying to figure out her miserable maze.
Her heart aches,
throat constricts.
She cannot swallow,
her pulse beats hollow.
They all think she is an angel,
but she is convinced she is anything but.
