Your name part 3
Allure
°°°°°°°°°°
Your name is sticky
Sticking in my mind..
On my tongue..
I could have a list of things to ponder,
But consistently you are number one
I hate that despite my common sense
I allow you to live rent free in my head
I try to wash my hands clean of you,-
I pray you won’t stain, that you’ll simply go down the drain
But dammit your mark has been made
And without trying, you’ve won
The game I made in my head and the one I refused to play
Maybe it means something that you never saw me as a game anyway
I’m just your friend,- there's no reason for you to try
You could quite literally hurt my feelings and I’d be the one to apologize..
I blame my habit of romanticizing every interaction,
I blame this irrevocable attraction,- Like a magnet..
I don’t want to forget you, so I write these poems to track it
All of my observations,
Past your lips, chapped
Your hair, shagged
The way you smile at your diet,- because we both know it's crap
If you asked me to, I’d stay by your side
And I hate that if you asked me to,
I’d give up every word I knew to write
I hate that we could balance each other perfectly if we tried,-
And I hate that deep down,
I desire to say your name
And know that you are happily mine
