No venomous hiss, & no strike of sudden sting,
But a silent surrender to what winter will bring.

It cuddles the wet earth, a final, whispered by,
As autumn's breath, a gentle, tearful sigh.

The sun's warm kiss, now faded, dimmed and weak,
A final dance, a silent, fading streak.
Of emerald hues, now muted, brown and old,
A whispered farewell, in stories yet untold.

The wind's soft sigh, a mournful, gentle tune,
Carries the leaf, beneath the setting moon.
A final journey, to the earth so deep,
Where slumber waits, a peaceful, quiet sleep.

And in that sleep, a new beginning starts,
A cycle turning, in nature's gentle arts.
The leaf's frail form, a part of life's grand scheme,
A testament to beauty, a fleeting, vibrant dream.

It cuddles the wet earth, bid a final embrace,
A journey of goodbye, with sorrow and grace.
This dried autumn leaf, now so frail, so thin,
Drifts down like a snake, its end to begin.

It twists & turns, a dance of rust and gold,
A mimicry of scales, a hidden story to be told.
The damp earth waits, a lover cold and deep,
To cradle this leaf in slumber, and secrets to keep.

The tree stands tall, yet stripped and bare,
Its leaves shed in poverty, whispers with none to spare.
Autumn breathes cold, as winter draws near,
A natural cycle of loss, the season's austere.

As the serpent sheds its skin, old life departs,
So do the tree in poverty tears away its hearts.
