A vase of flowers on my desk
The petals so mesmerizing
The smell so exquisite
The meaning so harsh and painful, like thorns on a rose
Hurting, not physically, but mentally
Then as the cell doors open, I escape into the crowd
Returning to a place that doesn't feel like home

A pleasure filled addiction takes over me
The beginning so intense
The ending so satisfying
The only feeling to temporarily stop the tears
Hurting physically and mentally
Then as the world turns black, I escape from reality
Soon to return to the place I desperately want to leave
...
A new day arrives with another fake rumor
The truth so painful
The lie so unforgiving
The prisoners tearing me apart without signs of mercy
Hurting, not physically, but emotionally
Then as the heart breaks, the bars do too
Finding myself in a place I wish I never found
...
A place where a single step can end it all
The fear so strong
The feeling so overwhelming
Hurting for one last second
Then as I walk forward, I disappear
Leaving the place I was before behind
