I live in a society where
a girl entering womenhood is celebrated
It's a time of happiness for her
But who knows what's yet to come to her?

From being called impure
to being treated untouchable
some families leave no reason
to curtail her freedom

Those few days in a row
which in every month, come and go
could be terrible for some
they might need care and support

The way her body prepares
an environment for a young one
and sheds uterine lining when
there is no fertilization,
is suddenly called impure
by many conservative people
that also includes women
who don't put such ideas an end

I just want people to assert
that Periods are normal.
It's a blessing to be a woman,
no matter the time of the month
