Running through Life's Stages
It is an age since I ran that far or fast
Over an area really flat and vast.
I did that till I turned fifteen
i.e. till I got absorbed in the system.
School, College followed one by one
Playing, laughing, having fun was done.
Then followed marriage aka settling down
Job, family, loans went on till now.
Now the kids are all tall and grown
Independent with their work and their own.
I have now the time to try things, you see
But I find I have not that much energy.
Or maybe I am wiser and slowed down
And so do what I can, without a frown.
I still run, in my mind, like my dog
When he sleeps well, like a log.
My dreams are now energetic and full
And I am happy, content and joyful!
Not missing that running, that busyness
Treating myself with love and kindness.
Ready to take on all those changes
That come through our lifes stages.
