The Good
How very lucky this world is —
That’s of course,
because you’re in it,
kid.
How fortunate my life is —
Just to overlap yours at all.
From the very firsts, to the small mischiefs you are involved.
Your eyes see something I know I’m missing

Your ears hear melodies, only you can listen

Your hands reach stars, pulling into view

I hear those stars whisper when I’m really paying attention,
I can’t make out the words,
though luminosity is their intention

These stars explain to you in the softest voices,
That to be a flashlight, has never been one of your choices.
I’m so very grateful for the changes you have and will make,
Because, this place needs a kid who can see good for goodness sake.
