I Waited And Waited
#WritcoPoemPrompt79
The more you want a reply from a person, the more they'll keep silent. Write a poem about it.
p/s : this based on real life event of the writer
The poem :
I waited, patiently,
Tapping my foot on the floor,
Heart clenched tight in my chest—
Nervous, afraid.
Would he reject my confession?
The longer I waited,
The farther he drifted away.
He gave me nothing,
Not a single word.
I was left confused,
Three months of talks, laughs, and smiles.
I was certain he liked me back,
Or was it all in my head?
Then one day, we met.
I felt like I was on cloud nine,
Thinking my feelings might be returned—
But in my dreams.
He already had a lover.
I forced a smile when our eyes met,
As he introduced the one he truly loved.
And though my hands itched to slap him,
For wasting my gold,
I just stood there, silent.
