A Knight's Reward
I am saddened by reality, love was lying.
Sunken to depths of self-willed dying.
Fighting against foes I see not.
Yet, my battle-ax throws, and at least I have fought.
A knight in shining armor, whence I was, I no longer am.
My quest, to save a damsel distressed.
Yet here I lay defeated, beaten by sins I've yet to confess.
A mirrored image once adored. Yet to no avail.
Touching, laughing, loving, her hate is a crutch.
My all I have given, yet still lacking.
Glassy eyed, tear torn, I concede.
Yet still feel the victor's whacking.
Like a puppet on a crippled hand, longing to dance its part.
Or the tin-mans destiny, ohh where might I find an unimpaired heart.
