The Virtue of Venus
A very long time ago
In a universe not too far
There live a beautiful woman
On a brilliant star
She felt she was all alone
In this great divide
With no one to love
Or to be at her side.

One day she ventured
Far, far away
Almost getting lost
In the milky way
Til she found a place
Full of cosmic beauty
To stay there and rein
Would be her new duty.

She cleaned up the toxins
She wiped the yellow slate clean
Til for hundreds of miles
Only stars could be seen
She turned hills into mountains
Watched fire evolve
There seemed no issue here
She couldn't resolve.
So desolate and bare
Since her heart was the same
She took this planet
And gave it her name.

But the days were like years
And she missed the sunrise
There was no other life there
Her world was counter clockwise
She so loved the view though
On the clearer, brighter days
Of the planet nextdoor
She'd sit for hours gaze.

A lush, green planet
With trees galore
Perhaps one day
She'd go and explore
Then she noticed the beings
Occupying this place
Had no regard for time
Each other, or their space.

She was appalled by the fact
Though they wandered not alone
So many were still unhappy
On this planet, they call home
No longer able to watch
She left earth's side
Going back to her star
To forever reside.

She had left her lonely star
In search of love
Or at least something close
Reminiscent of
The love she had lost
So very long ago
The missing piece of her heart
That made her feel whole.
It turned out her true love
Had been there all along
This was her home
It was where she belonged.

She never forgot the people
Who abided on earth
And vowed to help
Lift their curse
She would give good fortune
And prosperity
To those who sought her
To those who believed.

When she bore a child
She taught him of earth
And using his arrows
He helped her lift its curse
He was blindfolded
As to be fair and just
Into the hearts of the unknown
His arrows he'd thrust.

To fill their hearts
With passion and fire
To help them fulfill
Their greatest desires
Venus and Cupid
Mother and son
Continuing their mission
Their labor of love never done.
