Freedom...
Freedom from an abusive relationship,
A weight lifted from shoulders so feeble,
A chance to spread wings and take flight,
To reclaim a life that's rightfully mine.

The chains that bound me are now broken,
The scars that remain are a reminder,
Of the pain that I once endured,
And the courage that I found within.

I am no longer a prisoner of fear,
No longer a victim of hurt and tears,
For I have found a way to break free,
And the world is now open for me to see.

I can breathe again, I can dream again,
I can love again, I can be again,
For the shackles that held me down,
Are now nothing more than a distant sound.

Freedom is mine, and I will cherish it,
For it's a gift that few ever get,
And though the road ahead may be tough,
I know that I am strong enough.

So I'll spread my wings and fly away,
Towards a new dawn, a brand new day,
And I'll never forget the pain I've left behind,
As I revel in the freedom that's mine.
