I've acknowledged that I won't make it home,

for these demons won't leave me alone.

when queried, 'why won't you leave me be?'

they dare guffaw, their mouths spilling bloody foam.

they insist they have nowhere to go, their kingdom was overthrown.

and from time to time, they question, 'do you wish you cannot see?'
