An English Fairytale

I walked into the woods
And heard such creeping sounds.
The trees were standing over me
With not a soul around.
I walked into the darkness
My feet in muddy baths.
The owls hooed such bravery
I heard the voices laugh.
I wondered where they came from
These words on moving leaves.
But leaves were not just whispers
Stranger voices I received.
A speaking owl in overalls
A fox who told the time.
Raccoons who could count
And deer that could rhyme.
These creatures were my friends
We danced and spun around.
We laughed and laughed and time did pass
An exit to home be found.
This English fairytale
This forest full of dreams.
Guess a walk into the woods
Isn't always what it will seem.
