Only Once.

A walk on a beach,
Both, on your bare feet,
So close and within reach,
A conversation brief but sweet,
Swayed my heart sideways,
Into the abyss unknown.

I saw your mirror,
Dancing in my eyes,
Made me fly so high,
Like only love could,
Before it pulled me under.

What say you, I asked
To what lengths would you go,
How long will you stay,
When will you leave,
All formed in these murky depths .

Eyes cast down,
Hands clenched, brows drawn,
You said one word, one
that tore it all apart,
One word, was all it took.

You broke me first,
Into pieces that fit
Your iron fist,
That mercilessly tore my innards apart,
Leaving me gasping.
