As the lights slowly dim
After I have acted the part
I stand here, alone
With the ghosts of the audience
And the ghosts of my past
It was a very good run
Yet there will be a new season
New performances, actors, backstage workers
New scripts to pour over
New friends to make
A cycle begins anew
Not unlike life
For now, I can only ponder
The unimaginable silence
Wistful, pained
Yet ready for the next act.
