my foolish idea of love
I love the idea of you,
So much more than I love you.
The pain of knowing what could've been,
And seeing shared memories now wasted.
They were my dreams turned into nightmares,
But they made me sober.
Reminding myself that I gave and forgave,
But never received.
I love you, but I don't.
You can have me, but you can't.
Because you don't see me the way I see you.
So, did you ever really love the idea of me?
