When A Poet Dies
When a poet dies
the light of the world no longer shines
bright as before
Gone
The moon and stars
As galaxies
Wane as they mourn
Gone
The sunshine
That blessed infinite days
Gone
Their thoughts
Pondered each creation
Fine were the lines
Ruminated between
Gone
the puns
Placed and excellently timed
Gone
true words
From a heart esteemed
Gone
From the sacred place
A poet found to dwell
Not only in their head and heart
To share with us as well
With the world
Ruminating each one
But gone
Are the scribbles
Some
No sense at all
Those from the heart
From a poet
Gone
we mourn they're not here, they're gone

(This is a revised version of my original.
It was inspired by a fellow Poet, going through a very difficult period in life, answering to death that calls through illness, he's finalising things.)
