HUMAN RACE

Why do you call it a Human Race?
I'm tired of this stupid chase
The pressure and the misery keeps mounting as I go deeper into this maze
The tunnel is long & I don't see the light at the end of this phase

Fear and anxiety slowly making my mind their permanent home
No clarity, no direction as in these chaotic streets I continue to roam
I distaste & abhor this political bigotry
Hate misdirected & all efforts seem paltry

Youths are silent & where is the posterity?
Ruled by the old while deeming the new a nonentity
Bravery seems foreign when I have cast my chips all in
Intimidation is their strategy & in line we all fall in

I hate this race because we are going nowhere fast
We want to move forward but we are detained by our past
Livelihoods lost, lives taken & our future plunged into obscurity
And nothing can be done when we all fear for our own personal security

We are now a Human Race devoid of Humanity
A vile movement without purpose or progressivity
I will continue to scream "Power to the YOUTH!"
But without you adding your voice to mine, my argument becomes mute
