Desperado
I remember it just like yesterday,
chasing the midnight sun.
A lonely desperado,
living life out on the run.
You couldn't tell me nothin',
living reckless like a fool.
With the horse that I rode in on,
through a hell you never knew.
Hurling bolts of lightning,
while thunder booms from underfoot.
Attempting to reclaim,
that sense of self; corruption came and took.
Conflict holds alluring beauty,
until there's nothing left there to destroy.
Just a barren wasteland,
something goodness must avoid.
So I sit up in my saddle,
with guns holstered at my side.
And ride off into the darkness,
where all ambition goes to die.
