Things We Do For Love
They told me to climb mountains
I whispered, in my heart, your name
And did it with grace
They told me to fight my greatest demons
I reminisced your memory in my mind
and rewarded them all with a remarkable defeat
They told me to face my biggest fears
I took a second to say your name
and conquered them like the warrior
I never knew I could be

They told me to do all things
I vowed not to be near,
for as long as I was alive
but as your voice told me to go ahead
I did them with not an inch of regret
They told me to cross the seven seas
to reach your heart if my love was true
and I swam across the globe for ages
only to honor the fact
that if my heart sang
songs in the name of someone
it'd be only you

They told me to face
what I couldn't dare to look at
but when I held your hand,
you gave me the strength
They say love is a sinful distraction
but how did it make me the person
I've always wanted to be
They say love takes away
your power to think
then how does it make me see life in a way
I've always wanted to see
A reason to live, a reason to breathe
is your smile, your voice, the light you radiate.

They told me to walk through the dark
I couldn't bear to take the first step
but the light of your eyes became the fire
that led me through the deadliest woods and forests
They told me to be the only soldier
amongst a hundred foes
but because the war was meant to be fought
for the one with whom I share a soul
I, who had never touched a needle before,
held the sharpest sword in sight
to perform what love calls for, a selfless sacrifice.

They told me to withstand the harshest windstorms
but I couldn't bear to stand still
yet I formed the image of you smiling in my mind
and restored my will in seconds
They said love would be the barrier between my dreams
but it became the bridge between my deepest desires.
They said if the world ends and the land separates in two halves
or death pulls us apart
both of us will end up departing to different realms
but I wish to feel a love so intense
that I pine for it, die for it and live in the name of it
even as mortal skeletons sharing a grave.
