Patricia and Earl
#WritcoPoemPrompt11

The days were unending as were the nights,
She waited and waited and waited,
But there seemed no hope in sight…
Until Earl appeared outside her window.
Tossing a pebble - clicking the glass...
She spied him below.
Bald, short, robust, and a bit awkward, but...
He was kind, quite funny, robust, and...
Mirror dimples, of the most adorable.
Knowing her plight, he smiled and waved.
However, Patricia noticed he held a secret.
Lifting the transparent frame she whispered...

"Dear Earl...what dost thou hide in thy left hand?"

He chuckled and pulled it from behind his back...

"Sweet maiden, I have traveled far...and wide," he made a sly jab at his weight, wherein she laughed, "...to bringest thou Chipotle, with brown rice, extra pico, a mixture of black and pinto, sour cream, cheese, and heavy...on the RED HOT!" he rolled his arm and bumbled a curtsey as she responded...

"My dear hero...I'll be right there."

She floated down, then skipped to the door.
Wherein Earl, leaning his elbow on the side...
Held the precious bag in front of her eyes.
She gently cradled the succulent bag...

"You're a lifesaver Earl!" she nearly cried.

"Anything for you madame." he winked.

"You are without a doubt...and...I say this from the depths of my soul and the bottom of my heart...the best delivery guy in the whole wide world!"

He playfully grabbed his heart...
Patricia blew him a kiss, which...
Earl promptly snagged and held it tight.
She chuckled then snorted, but...
Wasn't embarrassed.
He tucked the kiss within his pocket.
Bidding good-night they parted ways.
From inside his car he scoped her house.
Patricia was gone...out of sight.
He took a deep sigh, fixed the rear view...
Then, staring at his reflection, he promised...

"Next time...next time I will find the courage," sadness wiped over his face, "I have to ask her on a date!"

Duty called as he accepted his next mission.
Driving away, he hoped to see her soon.
It was dark and quiet with the house empty.
Patricia walked slowly to her kitchen.
Placing the food on the island...
She bent over and rested her head.
Eying her marbled reflection, she sighed...

"Maybe next time...my sweet little Earl!"
