Not what I want
as she feels closer to him
the more she wants to push away.
she traces his skin at night,
brushes her hands through his hair in the morning.
his lips meet hers before he leaves the house,
his smile stuck in her mind all day.
she feels safe with him, happy, and comfortable.
though she’s terrified of giving the power of this responsibility to him.
the what ifs ring in her mind, she tries to be in the moment
but remains worried of the what if or when he leaves…
she doesn’t want to pick up the pieces of herself again.
