I saw someone that looks like you today,
It was just for a second,
Then I realized my mistake and quickly
looked away,
Your favorite song played while I was standing in line to pay for my food,
Needless to say I skipped lunch,
And ever since I have been in a bad mood

Someone walked past me and smelled just like you used to,
I just inhaled deeply and looked away,
There was nothing else I could do,
As I ordered my coffee, the staff called someone for their drink,
They had the same last name as you,
And ofcourse I did what I do best,
I started to over think

I made it to my house without breaking down in tears,
Finding pieces of you in everything I see has become one of my greatest fears,
Because it does not matter how much my heart misses you,
Life has no reset button or some app where we get to choose "undo"


I have to make peace with the fact that you will never hug or hold me again,
That I will only see you when it is my time to go, but how do I cope until then?
I am losing my mind and my smile is long gone by now,
I am stuck in survival mode, doing the best I know how,
I hope in time I don't cry anymore tears,
But that is just wishful thinking, because
I will miss you for the next million years
