The Cries of Hopeless Africans
we were locked up in a dark cage,
without any sign of hope of getting out,
our only companions were rats & cockroaches,
we became victims of our own negative thoughts,
we had grown accustomed to the darkness,
we'd no intention of getting back to the real world,
from time to time we wondered how our families we doing,
we told ourselves that we lost another opportunity to life,
perhaps this dark cage was our own punishment,
But we remember that we were being ,
punished for speaking the truth,
In a world which worshipped dishonesty,
Déception was the mother,
While murder was the father,
And chaos was the child,
Indeed we are in a dark world,
Whereby honesty sounds like a lie,
We are blinded by our own greed,
No one is safe anymore,
Freedom has become a tool for corruption,
The freedom which we longed for,
Has now been stripped away from us,
We claimed to practice democracy,
But we failed to understand what democracy is,
