the snow outside is warm

maybe it's from all the cigarettes
thrown away after the first shifts

or all the coffee drops fallen from
the cups of hurrying colleagues

maybe the cellophane of all packages
on it contain some of yesterday's sun

we see it less and less thanks to all
the smoke curtains hinged to our view

and the snow will keep melting until
the last of us become cold
