The glaring light
Felt lifeless,
on the ground where I laid,
with sirens wailing out my window.
Smoke slowly creeps through my ceiling,
and there's firemen screaming at my door,
but I don't hear any of them at all,
I'm too consumed, too shallow to heed
the fire consuming my soul.

I'm now at death's door,
but he doesn't let me in,
declaring,
there's no salvation for me within he's confines,
but I glimpse beyond he's dreary dark figure,
a faint glimmer at he's sides,
inviting enough for me to forge ahead
yet there's no return from the depths,
for I am not one to ignore an enemies plea.

So I light a torch to guide my way home,
there was nothing for me there,
the fire still rages out my soul,
yet now I've given this heat purpose,
I confronted death and discovered life.
