Perhaps
Perhaps we'll begin to put down our phones
And even learn to talk.
Perhaps we'll appreciate the smaller things
A cup of tea with a friend, a sosial outing, a walk.
Perhaps we'll begin to embrace each other,
As if meeting anew.
Perhaps we'll learn to sacrifice
Some of "me" for a little bit of "you".
Perhaps we'll remember those who hid in years gone by
But only candlelight.
Perhaps we'll realise our misfortunes
Would insult those who lost the fight.
Perhaps we'll begin to value our health
That is is a blessing and not a right.
Perhaps we'll remind ourselves of this
Once the sickness is firmly out of sight.
Perhaps we'll see the world with different eyes,
In all its chaos and slendour.
Perhaps we'll see that life is something
To enjoy and not just to endure.
Perhaps this will come to pass,
And perhaps we will learn a lot
But i fear, knowing us,
Perhaps we will not.
