‘Our Parents said’ 

Our parents said never to forget who we are, 

To keep our heads up high and accomplish anything,    

No matter how far, 

Our parents told us people are jealous, 

Negative and wrong, 

‘We have no right to stay where we belong’ 

Our parents warned us of violence 

Consequences put unless there was silence. 

Our parents said there was a price to pay, 

If we did not pray to God...
