pumpkin

Pumpkin has always been a tasty vegetable
One that my mother use to cook for us to eat
And in front of Sandra mothers house
Used to have a big pumpkin patch down in 2nd street

Every time that my mother cooked pumpkin, she would cook it differently,
She would make plain or sometimes with fry saltfish
And it does matter how she makes it that day
Every time it would always be a tasty dish

Pumpkin with some hot sada roti
And a cup of Milo does go down nice
And I remember my grandmother liked to eat pumpkin
With some lime pepper sauce and rice

The pumpkin patch in second Street would just grow by its self
To the side of the street and it would always bear
And whenever anyone wants a pumpkin
We know the patch will always be there

But then the government workers comes to ste Madeleine
To pave the road and to fix the drain
And they had to clean out the whole area
So there was no more pumpkin patch there again

We were mad as hell for losing the pumpkin patch
But what can we do
And I am sure if this was in your street
You would be mad as hell too

Pumpkins are one of the most used vegetables in the world
And I am sure its liked by almost everyone
And you will see it being carved all over in America
For Halloween to make jack –o- lantern

Pumpkins can be used to make almost everything
Bread, pies, cakes and in all kind of recipe
So I just decide to write a little poem about pumpkins
so if you read this, please don’t think that I’m crazy

And whenever I go to Hindu prayers or a wedding
I will be getting down on the food on my sohare leaves
And you will always see me raising my hands
Saying some more pumpkin and roti, please

I think that nowhere else they can cook pumpkin
Like they do in Trinidad
You can eat pumpkins anywhere around the world
But when you eat it in Trinidad
You would say "wow 😮" this is the best pumpkin I ever had

pumpkins are a fruit because it's a product of the seed-bearing structure of flowering plants.
Vegetables, on the other hand, are the edible portion of plants such as leaves, stems, roots, and flowers,

Pumpkin was originated in North America
Dating back to 7000 to 5500 B.C
And since then it’s been used for many things
And it will always be a part of our modern days culinary
