I see the faces, but I don't hear the voices
I feel the eyes, but I don't sense the emotions
I'm surrounded by people, but I'm isolated by walls
I'm part of the crowd, but I'm detached from the souls

I long for connection, but I don't find the spark
I crave for attention, but I don't get the mark
I search for meaning, but I don't see the light
I hope for belonging, but I don't feel the right

I'm alone in a crowded room
I'm a stranger in a familiar place
I'm a shadow in a bright space
I'm a silence in a noisy race

I pretend to be happy, but I'm not
I pretend to be interested, but I'm not
I pretend to be friendly, but I'm not
I pretend to be normal, but I'm not

I'm lonely in the crowd
I'm a misfit in the group
I'm a puzzle in the picture
I'm a loop in the hoop
