Didn't Get To Know My Neighbors
#WritcoPoemChallenge
#CoronaVirus
The days too eventually fell silent,
No sounds, not even by the crows,
All you could hear was the sound of,
Fear knocking on the doors,
With an impending trance like state.

Scenes of neighbors fleeing in ambulances,
Dumbfounded me and my canine pal next-door,
Who were they anyway?
I wouldn't know, because
I didn't get to know my neighbors.

Perks of the busy life,
Rush of the city life,
Who wants to know one another,
When you've got you and a cellular,
Know thy neighbor, becomes old as ever.

Me, my and mine,
Engaged better to my senses all along,
Until I knew I was really all alone,
In this pandemic of a season going on.

They had toddlers, my neighbors,
But who's going to miss something you never saw,
Must have been an interesting bunch, my neighbors,
But how would I know if I never met.

Wagging his tail he went away too,
My only companion to his daily home tour,
Suddenly something stirred inward,
Causing me to miss things I never had.

Who are you?
How are you?
What were you like?
How would I know,
I didn't get to know my neighbors!
