It took years of patience,
to understand benevolence,
and cadence our pride.
Though we anticipate distress,
but fail to embrace joyousness.

It took years of listening,
to others who bespeak,
and brag about oneself.
For those who spend years in solidarity,
prove to be incapable of sustaining parity.

It took years of education,
to let myself become liberal,
and break open the concealed emotion.
For I have understood to disengage,
my tangled feelings in the open.
