Smiles
Smiles, giggles, and little wiggles.
Gurgles, coos, and babbles.
How did someone so perfect come from a world of dysfunction?
Am I talking about the world or myself?
How did these two little boys become my life?

Smiles, giggles, and little wiggles.
They know nothing of my hardships and yet they stick up for me.
When I'm at times of great need.
Baby cuddles are the best.
Soft skin against my chest.

These boys are so little but already so bold.
One climbs everything and doesn't listen when he is told that it will hurt if he falls.
But will it actually hurt him or me?
Because I never wish to see him in agony.

The other has just found his laugh.
They feed off of each other when one starts to giggle the other begins.
The same goes for cries.
When tears fall from ones eyes,
The other begins to sob.
Causing my heart to throb.

I'm not great with being sympathetic, but these boys are teaching me that and more.
Don't get me wrong it is like pulling teeth when going to any store.
One wants to run and greet every person he meets.
The other hates having to stay in a cart in his infant seat.

They know nothing of the world but they both love to learn.
The oldest has figured out how to open every lock and knob.
We have magnet cabinet locks and he has discovered that if he holds up his magnetic blocks to them he gets what he wants.

I hope that when I'm old and decaying,
I will still remember them, even when they are aging.
Remember the smiles, giggles, and little wiggles.
