Midnight Dancer
Dancing along the midnight breeze,
I flew so gently and with ease,
Autumn moon I aim to please,
While twirling to and fro.

Dancing by the meadow grass,
The fields so wide,
So big and vast,
Where others gather here en masse,
To see them ebb and flow.

Dancing by the sandy shore,
The setting sun I do adore,
Passing along the nightly Moore,
On through the night we go.

Dancing through the nightly wood,
To where my home was where I stood,
Before I parted ways for good,
I’ll miss you sadly so.

Dancing slowly to the ground,
My dancing wind cannot be found,
Onto the dirt,
Forever bound,
Among this wooded row.

My dance has ceased,
Yet to my eye,
I see another in the sky,
Twirling so seely,
So freely as I,
Lay by me softly so.

I lay and start to drift upon,
The softened ground of breaking dawn,
Pass the path of winters keep,
Into the earth to where I sleep.
