Frozen Angel
That’s what she looked like
Standing out there in the moonlit balcony
Quiet and alone
One so clueless would not know that she was
Fareeha Khizar, daughter
To a powerful, ruthless political titan.

Senator Aliyu Khizar
That was the name of the man
On whose head was sprang 200 hates
Each for every man who he cruelly
Exploited in our community.

That would quite be putting it mildly
The man is a political bastard
Growing up in the 60’s in Yobe State
We all knew who Khizar was
The much loved “Man of the People”
Who stood for justice
And supposedly development of the state.
Yet here I was
Almost three decades later
After losing my profitable job
My home
My wife and child killed
Dead all because of him.

I am not the only one
On whom this fate has befallen
A fate whose cause we do not yet understand.
But the time for trying to fathom
The reason for these gruesome massacres
Have ended
It was time for revenge
