I look at your face everyday,
and I remember.

The first time we spent time together,
we walked and talked all day,
sharing our stories,
building our own new story,
we truly felt that bond for sure.

Through the years,
we've always done that,
like the first time we shared time,
and our love has only grown.

I look in your eyes,
and I remember.

It's more than just romance,
you're a familiar and warm place,
you're a happy and loving person,
you're a reason to get up and try more,
even if I don't always show it well enough,
you inspire me.

Our children remind me of the happiest moments of our lives,
how any disagreements or difficult times we have can always be overcome,
and how it's not just hope and wish,
it's real and mutual and amazing.

Some of my favorite thoughts are remembering how we've both grown together,
and how we always seem to come up with a good solution because we each recognize that our lives are lovingly and richly tied together,
we've always agreed that we could overcome anything together,
and our decisions always seem to be based on what's good for both of us.

You're the fairness police certainly,
but it's endearing, in fact,
it's probably why we always seem to work on our solutions together,
we embrace any challenges and brave the world together.

You're adventurous nature has also given me some of our happiest times,
when I know trips will make you happy,
I just want to go and watch you smile,
even though I tease you for how excited the simple things seem to make you,
you're a true force of good in the world.

I hold your hand,
and I remember.

Your soft skin and tight grip remind me that you're both sensitive and strong.
You've certainly proven that over our lives together,
somewhere between moving from place to place for years,
and working job after job to find the right fit,
and somehow carving out time for our boys, for me, and for yourself.

I think about us together,
and I remember.

I feel improved for having known you,
we're here now because we've grown so much together,
only time will tell what will come,
but as always I'm excited to see how we handle it together.

The time we've spent so far is just the beginning I know,
but I want you to know,
that the familiar and warm place we've made together isn't taken for granted,
it's the safe place that allows me to be who I truly am and dream about being the best version of myself each and every day.
