Can a soul
That thinks incessantly
About oneself
Come to love?

Can a soul
Ambitious, focused
Goal-driven
Come to love?

Can a soul
Fearful, frightened
Terrified for oneself
Come to love?

Can a soul
Who puts oneself above another
Compares, envies, judges
Come to love?

Can a soul
Divided by politics, race
Class, money, views
Come to love?

Can I
Who dislikes parts of myself
And the same parts in others
Ever come to love?

Can I
Who severs myself from others
Because I think I'm special, different, unique
Ever come to love?

Only when I am fully human
Undivided and whole
And see myself in every man
Will I ever come to love :)
