Metamodernity
There is an echoing loneliness in my heart
A sorrowful sparrow that wants to fly south freely
I pour whiskey on him and inhale cigarette smoke
I tell him no
I'm not going to let anyone see you

From the grocery store clerk
To the dog walker passing by
The roommates that I share and dream this humble abode
I don't let him flutter his wings
They never know he is in there

There is an echoing loneliness in my heart
That wants to get out
Like the wilting dandelion seeds that lets go of it bloomful harvest every season
Yet I tell the flower
Don't go
Stay attached
Putter and die with the autumn winds

There is an echoing loneliness in my heart
But I'm too tough for him
I tell him
Do you want to screw it all up
Do you want mess up the works
Of forlong florescent doom
Connecting with others that share this same gloom
Do you want to mess up connections of other prolonging souls

There is an echoing loneliness in my heart
I only let him out at night sometimes
When all others are fast asleep
I say to him
I know you're in there so don't be sad
But he is singing a quite solemn tune in there
I haven't quite let him die yet
We pass out among a sea of cans
A secret little pact we made

It's nice enough to make any person weep
But you don't weep, do you?
