Eyes of War
Eyes stare terribly,
a softness within them
As the wound trickles slowly,
Warmth around the hemp.
Hands clasped tightly
With cheers heard throughout,
Fondness left mournfully,
Let hatred now sprout.

Times we thought it over,
Suffering come so soon.
How had our seeds let bloom
Turn to spines with deadly touch?
Turning away from those who made it?

Products of our thirst,
Need for substance overrides.
When peace holds long,
The flame comes swiftly,
Making haste to conquer all.

Eyes now stare blankly,
No softness left to hold.
My brothers, with cold steel to flesh,
Bring the warmth in bloodied hands.
