It really seems like it was only yesterday
When I held a special little bundle of joy.
Your father and I with smiles on display
As we cradled our tiny creation of a boy.

We watched, nursed and guided our James,
While the world circled around our sun.
You climbed trees, rode bikes and played games
All the while growing up having innocent fun.

It really seems like it was only yesterday,
The world you grew up in changed a lot.
Terror, famine, wars that were oceans away
While you grew strawberries in your own pot.

We watched you go through rebellious years,
As your body took on it's natural changes.
We heard of disasters and shed our tears,
saw families, friends overcome with estranges.

It really seems like it was only yesterday,
That I cuddled my boy who became a man.
It's funny how time flies on any given day,
Let alone in years as we live in our life span.

Yes it is unbelievable how quickly time goes by,
From the moment we are born to our mother.
From the age of innocence to knowing why,
Life goes a break neck speed like no other.

It really seems like it was only yesterday,
We were children ourselves playing, singing
Living our life as like tomorrow was at bay,
Laughing, crying at sores and scrapes stinging.

The world is forever changing, right in our eyes,
Moments in life goes tick tock without delay.
So it's important to cherish them as time flies,
Yet it's these memories that seem like yesterday.
