Never Scream
I learned to be silent when,
my father's undeserved rage
unbuckled his belt.
Unallowed words or tears,
Silence assured a rod unspared.
Bruised but less numbered blows
silence assured indeed I was an unspoiled,
while it screamed inside.
Never forget the punishment's lessons;
Without the will to keep myself silent,
It could have been so much worse.
