AND YET THERE WAS NO SNOW
No sweet cold snowflakes were falling,
There was no scent of cookies from the entrance,
No colorful lights could be glimpsed
Among the branches of that tree you were so familiar with,
The table was not set with red candles
And precious silverware, unnaturally neat,
If you had closed your eyes, observing in the dark yourself,
You wouldn't have felt better despite all those gifts,
But there was everything you wanted beside you,
There were smiles so delicate to warm the soul,
There was affection, love, just like other days
But finally free to invade the whole room,
Unbroken by distant invisible walls,
It was a sunny day, special in normalcy,
You had been waiting for that day for more than a month,
and it was exactly as you wanted it,
Yet there was no snow
