Lantern
BEHOLD! Thunder has lost his resonance —
his dazzling Lighting Light bedazzled upon them
That for no men eyes to gaze.
His voice strained in THE SKY -
which tonight might reveal HIS dominance.
The moon shimmers somewhat grey —faint—
and yields to exhale some of HER WHITE LIGHTS—
To some of the distantly dimmer stars, which,
In their orbits, rambled, in their circles, stumbled —no yet torrent but storm is imminent.

As well for those whose souls are anxious below
And eyes are cast away by the glimmering earthly lots
Shall not they be helped but to be forced laying low
So that not to be destroyed in this far-off realm
Seem that serenity is latent in this quiver —
For that most concealed inside, and shiver—
And for that most closed their ears with a finger.

HIDE NOT! NOR SHIVER!
For To-night the lantern beams not less but brighter —
Brighter than fear—brighter than deeds or sins
To-night the lantern gleams—
By it, a passage shall be opened to—
where the star-dials pointed to morn — where the— star-dials hinted to where new hopes born
By the time when the far-out night descends
And the daylight should finally ascend
The lantern lambent light shall go dimmer, and eventually vanish, however—
To those whose faith is firm never will they be feared —
For even in the hours of the most stormy life,
The lantern shall be their guidance —
The lantern shall show them the way to The Light—
That lives inside the heart, forever!
