I fell in love with the idea of what I thought love could be
all the Disney Fairytales that told of nothing but a good end,
I thought I was a princess waiting for a knight,
like Tiana I wanted to be found,
saved from the torturous life by a prince
like the beast I needed to be saved
and like Cinderella
I waited for my prince charming on a white horse
and he came
until my clock ran out
and my fantasy siezed.

How many more horses must I ride?
How many more prince charmings must I meet?
I wondered,
and that's when it hit me
"Love is not a fairytale"
Cinderella didn't need Prince Charming to come to her rescue
Maybe he needed her to his
Maybe she's the one who actually saved him from his world
and maybe she showed him a world beyond his palace walls
Maybe The Beast didn't need Belle
maybe she actually needed the beast
she needed to learn from him that the world wasn't just black and white
and no
Ariel didn't need the prince
he needed her to learn how to be more spirited
"Love is not a fairytale" I learnt
I've ridden many horses and found many princes
but maybe I don't need to look anymore
I need to be found.
