There is nothing significant about Dongri
a place in Mumbai’s basti
plastic bags, narrow streets and
crumpled houses
so full of squeezing crowd that a sesame seed will become oil in ounces.

A man came from down south Salem
he spoke tamil and was about to create a mayhem

went to Mecca and got touched by Rabba

He couldn’t tell heaven from earth
people from space, space from emotion
he caused on the street a lot of commotion
threw sticks at folks and stung them with wrath

Only to make them see the ultimate truth
alas it never dawned on those ignorant youth
they complained to the police about the Dongri mad man
he was jailed by those supercilious ‘He-Men’

And then they saw the miracle of freedom
the Dongri madman...
