The brightest smiles
have the saddest hearts

The one who makes them laugh and smile
Living my recital.

Everyday is another play
The world becomes my stage
Play pretend and keep their gaze
Sadness in a cage.

You take the lead
You love the friends
And no one is of the wiser

You hide your pen
You douse your head in water.

To hide the tears
You laugh out loud
so everyone thinks your happy.
You write again
You draw again
Hiding what you’re lacking

Another day
Another mask
You smile with your eyes
And no one has a clue
that deep inside you want to die.
