I watch the night sky frequently

Comes close then far out in a matter of minutes, it seems.

it’s core is the same

extinguished long ago

replaced by another, exact same size and height tho

even though the old one moves a little slow

every so often it’ll kick out halfass glow

the sky tells the truth in so many ways

our ancient ancestors gave directions, smoother than a clean cut shave

fighting hand over fist
digging out own graves

the reward is sought if we obey and behave

the moon is close than we’re told
and the sun is not as far as they claim.

crazy as a shithouse rat or stubbornly sane

the Milky Way isn’t outer space but in the ceiling it hangs

welded by magic
not an accidental Big Bang.

the truth will hurt, but the lies will die

one day we all find ourselves inside

under a lampshade that keeps perfect time

space
with distance

how far will you go?

the sky is the limit, and it’s a small world after all.
